Isaac Cordal is from Spain but lives in Brussels. His miniatures are very surprising and attractive. His cement eclipses are a critical reflection on human behaviour as social mass: people as herds. They focus on the routine of the humans of today and are located in the strangest of places. The intention is that the miniatures shaped from clay and then moulded in plastic and painted, attract passers-by and prompt them to think about the comedy of humans. Cordal has a preference for ‘little people’ and situations that express their desperate existence, such as waiting for a bus, an unexpected death, sitting in the office, telephoning on the balcony, etc.
Isaac Cordal komt uit Spanje, maar woont in Brussel. Zijn kleine miniatuurtjes hebben een enorm verrassingseffect en aantrekkingskracht. Zijn “cementen (zons)verduisteringen” zijn een kritische reflectie op het menselijke gedrag als sociale massa: de mens als kuddedier. Ze zoomen in op de routine van de hedendaagse mens en staan op de gekste plekken. Het is de bedoeling dat de beeldjes, geboetseerd uit klei en daarna gegoten in kunststof en beschilderd, de voorbijganger pakken en laten nadenken over de menselijke komedie. Cordal heeft een voorliefde voor de “kleine mens” en situaties die hun hopeloze wezen uitdrukken, zoals wachten op de bus, een onverwachte dood, zitten op kantoor, telefoneren op het balkon etc.
