Dzia is a Belgian artist who is something of an enigma, particularly in the Antwerp region, where his animal murals act as pop-ups injecting new life into desolate areas in the city. Animals and murals, nature versus urbanism, are his trademark. His work can be seen in many European cities. The place where he painted the large fox is a very dynamic location within the town, given the daily traffic movements. But at the same time, nothing really happens. This image of the fox and the butterfly at this urban spot gives rise to a surprising development that adds new significance to the location. Pedestrians stop and look and drivers catch a glimpse that only sinks in at the next roundabout and perhaps causes them to reflect.
Dzia is een artiest uit België die met name in de regio Antwerpen een mysterie is, omdat zijn dieren-murals daar als pop-ups desolate plekken in de stad nieuw leven inblazen. Dieren en murals, natuur versus stad, is zijn handelsmerk. Dat doet hij ook in veel steden in Europa. De plek waar hij de grote vos schildert is een hele dynamische in de stad gezien het aantal verkeersbewegingen per dag. Maar eigenlijk gebeurde er ook weer niets. Met dit tafereel van de vos en de vlinder op deze urbane plek, gebeurt er iets verrassends wat de locatie een nieuwe betekenis geeft. De voetganger blijft staan en de automobilist vangt een glimp op die pas bij de volgende rotonde doordringt, en dan misschien tot nadenken aanzet.
