Cyrcle is a collective made up of street artists, graphic designers and traditional visual artists from Los Angeles. Within a three-year period, Cyrcle has become very well known within the international street art and gallery scene. According to Cyrcle, the work is entitled ‘Heerlen Struggle!’ because it refers to the period in which the town was severely hit by the closure of the mines, drugs and prostitution. The mural, which has a comic strip and pop art character and features vivid colours and wild figures depicts this struggle and is intended to reinforce the Heerlen community and to inspire it to maintain the struggle and not to give up.
Cyrcle is een collectief van straatartiesten, grafisch ontwerpers en traditionele beeldende kunstenaars uit Los Angeles. Binnen een periode van drie jaar heeft Cyrcle een grote bekendheid in de internationale street art en galerie scene verworven. Volgens Cyrcle heet het werk “Heerlen Struggle!”, omdat het verwijst naar de periode waarin de stad zwaar te kampen had met de sluiting van de mijnindustrie, drugsgebruik en prostitutie. De strip- en pop art-achtige mural met wilde kleuren en figuren verbeeldt deze strijd en is bedoeld om de Heerlense samenleving te sterken en te inspireren door te vechten en niet op te geven.
