The Argentinean Christian Riffel is influenced by philosophy, literature and poetry. Using his geometric style, he attempts to offer perspectives and observations and to entice dialogue, based on lines of thought and the various positions of the viewer. In Heerlen, he was inspired by the Russian writer Dostoyevsky, who used a style that was objective, realistic, investigative and based on true events. Riffel ‘writes’ in Heerlen about the unfortunate history of the town after the closure of the mines, the vacancy levels and the ageing population. Riffel believes that transition can be positive for those who believe in it and who are not afraid of change. ‘Gedachten in Beweging’ (‘Movement of Ideas’) is therefore a good start towards the positive and the constructive.
De Argentijn Christian Riffel wordt beïnvloed door filosofie, literatuur en poëzie. Met zijn geometrische stijl probeert hij vanuit gedachtenlijnen en de verschillende posities van de kijker, perspectieven en waarnemingen te bieden en dialoog uit te lokken. In Heerlen werd hij geïnspireerd door de Russische schrijver Dostojevski die objectief, realistisch, onderzoekend en vanuit echte gebeurtenissen schreef. Riffel “schrijft” in Heerlen over het onfortuinlijke verhaal van de stad na de mijnsluiting, de leegstand en de vergrijzing. Riffel gelooft dat transitie positief is voor wie er in gelooft en niet bang voor verandering is. “Gedachten in Beweging” is dan een goeie start naar het positieve en constructieve.
